Ergatas is Greek for craftsman—I knew you were wondering.
I wanted to combine a number of elements into this logo including references to:
- The natural world, which is reflected in the choice of colors and the fiddlehead fern motif. (My photograph of the Hawaiian tree fern inspired me.)
- Architecture, which comes out in the half triangle that the fiddlehead is cut from, making the shape reminiscent of a cross section of crown molding.
- Movement, which is also illustrated by the “crown-molding” forming an upward arrow that points to the left, and the sweeping delicate lines of the font selected for “design.”
- Modern life, which is suggested by the choice of a sleek modern font for “ergatas.”
